Nantucket, MA – [August 6, 2025] – Nantucket Community Television (NCTV) is proud to announce its recent success at the 2025 Hometown Media Awards, where it earned first place in five separate categories, standing out among community television stations from across the country.
The Hometown Media Awards are presented annually by the Alliance for Community Media (ACM), which represents more than 1,700 Public, Educational, and Governmental (PEG) access organizations nationwide. This recognition highlights NCTV’s continued commitment to excellence in community storytelling, production quality, and local impact.
Charles Douglas, NCTV Station Manager, and Sophia Reis, NCTV Member Services Coordinator, accepted the awards at the ACM’s annual conference held in Boston this June, representing the hard work and creative vision of the entire team.
In addition to its Hometown Media accolades, NCTV also received national attention at the 46th Annual Telly Awards. The documentary “Lost in Nevers Land”, directed by Penny Dey and produced by NCTV, was awarded Silver in the Documentary category—a significant achievement given the competition.
Unlike the Hometown Media Awards, the Telly Awards recognize excellence in video and television across global broadcasters, production companies, and digital platforms. “Lost in Nevers Land” competed against top-tier entries, including a Smithsonian documentary and a BBC production, ultimately tying for Silver with the Smithsonian and placing ahead of the BBC.
“This honor is a testament to the creative spirit of our island community,” said Penny Dey, the film’s producer and director. “Everyone involved—from concept to camera to post-production—should be extremely proud.”
